Q  Can you briefly summarize the operation of the ECU and diesel pump?
All recent diesel cars have an electronically managed diesel pump. This pump responds from signals processed by the ECU on factors such as engine speed, turbo boost and air flow. The diesel pump injects fuel at a rate in response to the ECU's information.

Q  How does a Rapid tuning module work?
The Rapid tuning module intercepts signals between the ECU and fuel pump and by optimizing fuelling it substantially increases torque and power by up to 25%.

Q  Why fit a Rapid tuning module to my diesel?
Diesel cars are notoriously under-powered at low to mid-range. This is as a result of the car manufacturers ECU management set-up. With a Rapid module, you should expect a significant improvement in torque throughout the torque band but noticeably at low to mid-range.

Q  Are these modules plug'n'play - in other words I don't have to cut any wires?
A large percentage of Rapid modules are like this. You buy the kit, plug it in and there is no need to cut any of your existing wires. However, this is not possible with some ECU's. Some kits do require that wires from the module are spliced into your existing wires. Please ask if this is the case before ordering!

Q  If I do have to cut wires, wont this affect my warranty?
Anyone who has a car that is under a manufacturer's warranty should inform their dealer if they are going to fit a module that requires a modification to the existing setup. This is solely to prevent any problems with your warranty if a claim has to be made in the future. However, all Rapid kits are extensively tested and will not harm your vehicle.

Q  Will I use more fuel?
This is not the case. The optimisation of fuelling can actually lead to an decrease in fuel consumption. However, don't get tempted to take on every car on the road, or you will be filling up more often!

Q  There are chips that do the same job though?
This is true. Chips do a similar job by re-mapping the ECU. They have their place in the market but the only drawback is that they cannot be removed without going back to the dealer who fitted it. Also they cannot be switched on and off.

Q  Switched on and off? What do you mean?
Rapid have created a unique switch for every boost kit which allows the kit to alternate between the modified and original settings. This is ideal when the car needs to be serviced, left unused for a long period of time or you just don't want the kit to be operational.

Q  Is there a guarantee?
There is a 12 month guarantee.

Q  Can I fit a Rapid module by myself?
All Rapid modules are supplied with fitting instructions. However, it is always advisable to have one fitted by a reputable garage, especially if you have had no prior experience!
